Red state, blue state

From Ace of Spades comes this interesting blurb:

They would create a public health insurer, the so-called "public option," but allow individual states to opt out if they wanted.

In other words: the blue states can have public health insurance, and the red states can go without.

And the details are the rub. The states that don't want to play only get to 'opt out' of the goodies ........ they'll still have to pay the taxes, accept the Medicare cuts, etc.

But here's an idea: let the federal government offer a service, like, universal health care .... and every state that wants it can just pay the new taxes, and get their Medicare cut, etc to pay for that service.

Reckon there'd be any takers?
