A 10-year-old Ohio boy was charged with murder today for allegedly shooting his mother with a .22 caliber rifle.
Happened over the weekend, news is just catching up. Since it has to do with guns, expect the PSH to start any time.
Because the media's involved, expect to never get the full story unless someone has an in to the police department. The ABC story I saw yesterday morning noted that the boy had firearms in his room (and the story showed lots of long guns mounted on a wall, unlocked). Given that the younster had bouts of discipline problems (as reported), his having access to firearms probably wasn't a good idea.
Firearms advocates don't think youngsters should automatically be denied the use of firearms under supervision; firearms advocates believe that one should at least demonstrate a healthy dose of responsibility before being given routine access to firearms.
