How do you treat the footage?

In a Bay Area first, a fatal shooting by police in East Oakland was captured on video - not by a bystander with a camcorder or a smart phone but by the officer himself, who wore a city-issued camera on his chest.
Now, some are saying the police should have access to the video before file a report; others are saying that is a no-no. I tend toward the don't-let-them-look side, so that the police can't make their story fit what the video shows. Some might say that in a really bad shoot, you simply look like you're trying to make shit up to match the video, but how is one to know it's a bad shoot? h/t Radley
