David Codrea has an excellent Gun Rights Examiner column that looks at restoring rights to felons who have been released from jail. A man in NC recently had his firearms rights restored after he had committed a non-violent crime, done his time, had his rights restored under law, then had them revoked again by an amendment.
It's my opinion that hardened violent felons don't give a rat's ass whether you restore their 'right' to own a firearm, because they'll get one if they need one regardless. So I consider it utterly pointless to deny felons the right to own weapons.
Davids point about needing a custodian is well-taken.
