I've seen a few posts about Roman Polanski's arrest and hopefully, his extradition back to the US ....... either he's a misunderstood, persecuted film genius, or he's a demented, self-admitted criminal.
I think he's a miserable excuse for a human, despite all he's overcome, and I hope that Mongo with all the tattoos takes the lad under his wing, and that Polanski dies with Mongo's cock in his tight, european ass.
Being a former Marine, I tend to be fairly law-and-order with regards to military stuff. For instance, my first well-thought out solution to the 9/11 attacks was to start nuking from orbit, with regular nukes for all the shitholes in the Muslim world, and neutron weapons for all the places we might want to take over (like Saudi Arabia). So I tend to let the military professionals run things (as they're allowed).
But I'm not at all enamored with the civilian leadership in place now ...... Vox Day has this post which sheds more light on what I call the utter incompetence of the current commander-in-chief.
God help us and watch over our men and women in uniform.
No one in their right mind wants to shoot someone, but if this is what happens when the police arrive, who should we be targeting? And if the oversight committees won't sanction this behavior, what hope have we of the police getting any better?
When Sarah Palin told America that President Obama's health care reform plan would put us in front of death panels, she didn't mean literally that we'd have to go into the room marked 'Death Panel', but that was the ultimate goal.
I heard this on the news last night (amazing, since I rarely watch the news), and was impressed that this body was found on the 12th.
Authorities are trying to determine if there was foul play (seems pretty obvious) and whether this was fomented by some kind of anti-government sentiment.
I have my own theory ........
Now, keep in mind that the murder (as I'll refer to it as) is repulsive, and I don't think there is any legitimate reason to do this.
But the best I can tell (my google-fu is broken), there were two undercover videos of ACORN that had been released as of the 12th. Videos that have ACORN in a tizzy, and describe repulsive behavior, if not illegal behavior.
I also know that census workers have been making GPS notations of citizens' houses as they've canvased for the census.
I also know that the long questionaire sent out by the census bureau has questions that have nothing to do with the reason for the census, questions that many citizens believe that the government has no business knowing.
I also know that ACORN has been as involved with the census as they're allowed to be.
Could it be that this gentleman was a census worker who was also a member of ACORN and someone decided that he had had enough?
First came death panels, then the town hall meetings, then this:
Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found
1. I say, assume it's racially motivated, especially since it's a bunch of black thugs beating on a white kid (and if the races were reversed, the assumption would be .... raaaaaaaacially motivated hate-crime death to the perpetrators)
2. Expel the thugs ...... immediately. No suspension, no alternative school. Expel.
3. Bring charges against the thugs, and attempt to get double sentences because of the obvious racial motivation for the attack.
4. Suspend those students who cheered for at least 2 weeks, allowing no make-up of their school work. Sorry kids.
5. Address the piece of crap bus driver - if he called 9-1-1, then only suspend him/her; if he didn't, then he/she needs to be fired immediately.
Everyone involved, however remotely, needs to understand that this kind of behavior will NOT be tolerated (and will be prosecuted) in a reasonable society. Not holding those responsible accountable for their actions tacitly endorses the behavior. If these kids aren't prosecuted, it wouldn't surprise me if the beat-up kid started bringing a firearm to school and opened fire on his attackers, and you know what?
I've often thought that one of the reasons people are so rude these days is that everyone who's capable of correcting such behavior is scared of the repercussions.
Saw this a couple of days ago on Hot Air and thought about linking it, but Ace's version is snarkier.'
Why is Rep Wilson out-rundraising his opponent? Because his 'you lie' passes the smell test ..... Obama's 'it's not true' doesn't.
Why does Sarah Palin's 'death panels' get traction? Because her 'death panels' passes the smell test ..... Obama's 'I'm not gonna kill grandma' doesn't.
So now, the administration, after screaming up and down that their health plan absolutely won't cover illegal migrants no way no how absolutely not, they're looking at the plan and saying thay illegal migrants really should be specifically mentioned that they're not eligible for any of this because we Democrats would neverever expand an entitlement, would we?
I'll not hide my disdain for the NRA, a position that flumoxes some people. I regard the NRA as the height of pragmatist' activism, not the staunch 2nd amendment protectors they claim to be. Witness the passage of the Hughes amendment to the GCA of 1968, which stopped the further construction and ownership of full-auto weapons. In 1986, I was personally considering the conversion of my CAR-15 into a select-fire weapon, but due to my impending entrance into the Marine Corps, I did not (and it was going to be very reasonable in cost, too). The Hiughes amendment stopped all of that. The NRA allowed the Hughes amendment to pass, because the Hughes amendment was acceptable to them.
But it wasn't acceptable to me. The NRA fucked me ....... not just the other guy.
Me.
So whenever I see a situation where the NRA might be inconvenienced, I giggle a little inside. Note that the NRA has the potential of endorsing a 'B'-rated politician over an 'A'-rated politician.
I remember getting off the plane in Bangor to be greeted by a host of Vietnam Vets. My only response to their generosity and respect was thank you, and I'd wished they'd have been treated as well.
LIbertarians are basically about the use of force, and how government (or anyone else) shouldn't use force unless provoked by force. Some say that taxes are voluntary, but don't pay them for long enough, and the feds will show you how voluntary they are. So that begs he question: When the government taxes me to pay for something for someone else, have I not been robbed by proxy?
David Codrea has an excellent Gun Rights Examiner column that looks at restoring rights to felons who have been released from jail. A man in NC recently had his firearms rights restored after he had committed a non-violent crime, done his time, had his rights restored under law, then had them revoked again by an amendment.
It's my opinion that hardened violent felons don't give a rat's ass whether you restore their 'right' to own a firearm, because they'll get one if they need one regardless. So I consider it utterly pointless to deny felons the right to own weapons.
Davids point about needing a custodian is well-taken.
The American Legion is not amused ..... neither am I.
Ed at HotAir has this post about the Associated Press' running a photo of a dying Marine. The post has links that I recommend you follow.
Ace of Spades has a link about this as well, and I think the comments are spot-on.
For ADHD sufferers, an AP embedded reporter took a picture of Lance Corporal Joshua Bernard as he lay dying after being hit by a Taliban rocket-propelled grenade. After the body was returned to the states and buried, LCpl Bernard's father (twice) and the SecDef The Honorable Robert Gates requested that the picture not be published. They asked this of the piece-of-shit scum-sucking maggot president of the AP, Thomas Curley. The AP ran the photo anyway, and of course in their glee, Huffington Post (miserable creatures that they are) have had a field day.
I know there's not much that can be done, but the AP's contact information is here. I would ask that you all call the main # in New York, as well as your closest bureau office and voice your displeasure.
An article that asserts that the federal government didn't clear the flammable underbrush in CA due to environmentalist pressure (Yahoo has the story linked).
The feds were going to controlled-burn around 1700 acres, but they only burned 193 (due to pressure).
Mike at Sipsey Street posted a link to this video of Senator Tom Coburn accepting an award from the Gun Owners of America.
He has great things to say about the GAO, but not quite so much about the NRA. I continue to have my disgreements with the NRA, and they started in '86 when they allowed the Hughes amendment to the GCA to fuck class III weapons owners (well, not owners, but those who wanted to be owners).
For you NRA apologists out there, I want you to do me a favor ....... write your NRA representative and ask him/her when the NRA is going to support repealing the Hughes amendment.
This is a point I made in a newspaper interview the other day ..... we don't care how much it costs because our exposure is limited to the copay, or our percentage.
Here's a reason to always wear eye (as well as ear) protection when shooting:
There is more complete information here. The suppressor is from Liberty Cans - see their link on the left (and try not to drool too much over the Mjolnir).
