... mom sues gun dealer:

The mother of Colby Weathers says she specifically told Odessa Gun and Pawn not to sell her daughter, who she says is mentally ill, a gun. She says they did and now her husband is dead.

But I didn't hear about this until now:

Delana said about a month before the tragedy, Weathers bought gun at Odessa Gun and Pawn. When she and Tex found out about it, they took it away.
“I just thought that maybe I’ll be proactive and I would call the gun store just in case she tried to do it again,” she added.

So the daughter had bought a firearm at the dealer's a month prior.

Hmmm ... and when the parents took it away from her, they didn't think to get her help, or have her committed for observation ... no, they called the dealer to tell them - TELL them not to sell her another one because she's in such bad mental shape.

The woman who had passed a NICS check just a month earlier, and now they're supposed to take 'mom's' word for it that she's a danger.

I don't have a lot of hope in the civil justice system but I hope to God this woman gets not a single, thin dime.
